The media office of Senator Sunday Karimi has alleged that a plot is underway to orchestrate a vote of no confidence against the lawmaker by ward officials in one of the Local Government Areas in Okunland.
In a statement issued by the Senator Sunday Karimi Media Advocates, the group claimed that the Executive Chairman of a Local Government Area in the Okun axis of Kogi West Senatorial District allegedly summoned newly elected ward chairmen across the 15 wards of the council and directed them to pass a vote of no confidence on the senator.
According to the statement, the development came to light after one of the ward chairmen reportedly confided in the senatorâs media office, claiming that the local government chairman said the directive came from the Kogi State Government.
The media team described the alleged move as a âneedless political drama,â insisting that it contradicts what it described as the verifiable achievements of Senator Karimi across the local government area and the wider senatorial district.
The statement warned that such actions appear aimed at sowing division within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 Nigerian general elections.
It maintained that the people of Kogi West are politically aware and cannot be misled by what it called âmanufactured political theatre,â noting that the senatorâs empowerment programmes and interventions have positively impacted youths, women, and students across the district.
The media office also highlighted several people-oriented projects facilitated by the senator, which it said continue to improve livelihoods and promote development across the senatorial district.
According to the statement, these interventions include empowerment initiatives for small business owners, educational support programmes for students, and various community-based projects aimed at improving infrastructure and social welfare in the district.
It added that many communities across the senatorial district have continued to benefit from the senatorâs legislative representation and constituency outreach, which have helped strengthen grassroots participation in governance.
The group further called on party leaders and stakeholders to remain vigilant against actions capable of creating disunity within the party structure, stressing that internal cohesion remains vital for the continued progress of the party and the development of the district.
The statement therefore urged political actors engaging in what it described as unnecessary sycophancy and political theatrics to focus on issues that truly matter to the people rather than actions capable of creating avoidable divisions within the party.
It added that the team around Senator Karimi remains committed to strengthening the bond between leadership and the people while sustaining development across Kogi West, assuring supporters that the senator will continue to work toward delivering meaningful representation for his constituents.
