Commercial motorcycle riders in Lokoja, popularly known as Okada riders, have expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, for supporting the union with the roofing of its secretariat conference room and the provision of a canopy for the mosque within the premises.

The commendation was made on Tuesday when the Chairman of the Motorcycle Owners and Operators of Nigeria (MOON), Lokoja branch, Abdulrahaman Abubakar Babasauti, led members of the union to inspect the completed projects and spoke with newsmen in Lokoja.

Abubakar Babasauti said the intervention by the Commissioner has significantly improved the facilities available at the union secretariat, particularly the conference room where meetings and important deliberations of the riders are usually held.

He added that the canopy provided for the mosque would also enable members observe their prayers more conveniently, especially during large gatherings at the secretariat.

Speaking during the inspection, the union secretary, Comrade Daniel John, commended the Commissioner for his continued financial assistance to the union, describing him as a leader who has consistently supported the welfare and activities of Okada riders in Lokoja.

Also speaking, the Special Assistant on Security to the union, Usman Emmanuel, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the gesture and also commended the union chairman for his leadership and efforts in attracting support and development projects to the union.

According to Emmanuel, the gesture has further strengthened the confidence of members of the union in the leadership of the Commissioner and the state government.

He noted that the union would continue to maintain peace and order among its members while contributing its quota to the development of Lokoja and Kogi State at large.

The Okada riders also commended Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what they described as the good work his administration is doing across the state.

They noted that the governor’s policies and programmes have continued to impact positively on the lives of the people, especially at the grassroots level.

The riders pledged their loyalty and continued support to the administration of Governor Ododo and the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning.

They further assured that members of the union would mobilize support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and also support Governor Ododo for a second term in 2028.

The union expressed optimism that the existing cordial relationship between government officials and the Okada riders would continue to grow stronger for the benefit of all residents of Lokoja and the state in general.
