In a landmark celebration of its 10th anniversary, Kogi Arewa Women in Action has once again demonstrated its commitment to uplifting women and children across Kogi State.
As part of the milestone event, the organization empowered 50 market women with ₦10,000 each, boosting their businesses and promoting economic independence.
The gesture, according to organizers, is aimed at encouraging women to grow their enterprises and become self-reliant.
In addition to the cash gifts, the group paid the school fees of 20 primary school pupils, contributing ₦5,000 each, to ensure continued access to education.
The initiative is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to support the academic development of children in the community.
The celebration also featured the distribution of writing exercise books to primary school pupils, providing essential tools to enhance their learning experience.
Beneficiaries expressed excitement over receiving the materials, noting that it would make a significant difference in their studies.
A chieftain of APC, Hon. Sulaiman Baba-Ali, who was represented by Adams Yahaya, commended the group for its efforts and pledged his support to further the organization’s mission of empowering women and supporting education in Kogi State.
The Chairman of the occasion, Lokoja LGA Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, was represented by the LGA Secretary, Abubakar Danjuma Mohammed, who also applauded the organization’s decade-long dedication to community development and encouraged other stakeholders to emulate their example.
Speaking at the event, the President of Kogi Arewa Women in Action, Hajiya Nafisat Usman, said: “For ten years, we have been dedicated to empowering women and supporting education in our communities. Today, we celebrate a decade of service and renew our pledge to continue creating opportunities that transform lives.”
Hajiya Zainab Bello, one of the market women beneficiaries, thanked the group for the gesture, describing it as a welcome boost to her business and a relief for her family.
She urged more organizations to invest in empowering women in the informal sector.
Likewise, Solomon David, representing the primary school pupils, expressed gratitude for the writing exercise books, noting that the materials would greatly enhance the pupils’ learning experience and encourage them to study harder.
The event also served as a networking platform for women entrepreneurs, community leaders, and education stakeholders to exchange ideas on sustainable development, women empowerment, and child education.
As the celebrations concluded, attendees praised Kogi Arewa Women in Action for its consistent efforts over the past decade, noting that the organization has become a beacon of hope and inspiration for women and children across the state.
