The Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, represented by the Rogan of Eggan, Muhammad Alhassan, on Thursday commissioned the newly renovated Police Area Commander’s Office in Lokoja, renovated by the Kutepa Outreach.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Maigari’s representative conveyed the appreciation of HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV to the Chairman of Kutepa Outreach, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Kutepa, OFR, for his sustained commitment to community development and support for security institutions in Lokoja.
He noted that the renovation would significantly improve the working environment of police officers and enhance effective service delivery, stressing that a conducive office environment is vital to boosting morale, professionalism and operational efficiency.
In his keynote address, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Kutepa, OFR, who was represented by Col. Kabiru Ndamodu (rtd.), explained that the renovation project was conceived as part of the outreach’s resolve to support security agencies and contribute to safer communities. He disclosed that the building is a colonial-era office previously used by the Native Authority Police, which had fallen into disrepair over the years before the intervention.
According to him, the decision to renovate the historic structure was also aimed at preserving its heritage while restoring it to functional use for modern policing.
He said the project reflects the outreach’s belief that sustainable security must be built on strong institutions and functional infrastructure.
The keynote speaker further acknowledged the support of the Chairman of Waltersmith Group, describing the partnership as a demonstration of how private sector collaboration can positively impact public institutions and community safety.
He added that the Kutepa Outreach remains committed to initiatives that promote peace, social cohesion and grassroots development, noting that security-related interventions form a critical part of its humanitarian objectives.
In their separate remarks, the Commissioner of Police and the Area Commander commended the Kutepa Outreach for the timely intervention, describing it as a major boost to policing in Lokoja.
They assured that the renovated office would be properly maintained and effectively utilized to enhance coordination, intelligence gathering and rapid response to security challenges.
They also called on other corporate organizations, development partners and well-meaning individuals to emulate the initiative by supporting security agencies through infrastructure development and welfare projects.
Adding his voice, the Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, commended the Kutepa Outreach for the intervention and urged other indigenes to support similar initiatives that strengthen security and promote community development.
He described the project as a model of patriotism and civic responsibility.
Community leaders present at the event expressed optimism that the improved facility would translate into better security outcomes for residents and businesses in the Lokoja metropolis.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, security chiefs, community leaders and residents, who lauded the project as a significant contribution to strengthening the security architecture of Lokoja while preserving an important historical structure.
