Abejide Joins Mopa Traditional Council in Thanksgiving, Pledges Support for Cultural Heritage

The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, has reaffirmed his commitment to the preservation of culture and grassroots unity as he attended the annual Traditional Rites and Thanksgiving of the Mopa Traditional Council.

The event, which held on Saturday, December 28, 2025, in Mopa, attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, elders and residents from across Mopamuro Local Government Area.

Abejide, who was accompanied by the Executive Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area and other dignitaries, said the sustenance of cultural values remained critical to peace, harmony and development in society.

He commended the Mopa Traditional Council for upholding age-long traditions that promote unity and identity among the people, noting that strong traditional institutions complement government efforts at the grassroots.

According to him, respect for heritage and communal values would continue to play a vital role in fostering development in Yagba land and Kogi State at large.

The ceremony featured traditional rites, prayers, cultural displays and thanksgiving sessions, with participants offering prayers for peace and progress in the area.

In their remarks, members of the Mopa Traditional Council thanked the lawmaker for honouring their invitation and described his presence at the event as a demonstration of respect for tradition and the people.

They also prayed for sustained peace and accelerated development across Mopamuro Local Government Area.
