The Kogi Council of Ulama’u has extended warm felicitations to Christians across the state on the occasion of the 2025 Christmas celebration, in a press statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday, calling for sustained peace, love and mutual understanding among adherents of different faiths.
The Council noted that Christmas remains a significant period for reflection on the values of humility, compassion and selfless service to humanity, stressing that such virtues are common teachings in both Islam and Christianity and should continue to guide social interactions in the state.
According to the Council, Kogi State has continued to enjoy relative peace due to the commitment of religious leaders to dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect, adding that the unity among faith-based groups has helped to prevent religious conflicts and promote social stability.
The Ulama’u encouraged parents, community leaders and youths to use the festive period to promote messages of peace, cautioning against acts capable of threatening the harmony currently enjoyed in the state.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to continuous collaboration with the Kogi State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions and other religious organizations to strengthen peace and security across all parts of the state.
The Council also commended the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his consistent support to religious bodies, describing his administration as inclusive and responsive to the needs of both Muslim and Christian communities.
Specifically, the Council appreciated the donation of a brand-new coaster bus to the Ulama’u and two other faith-based organizations, noting that the gesture would enhance religious outreach and administrative activities.
The statement concluded with prayers for peace and progress in Kogi State, while calling on residents to remain law-abiding and supportive of efforts aimed at sustaining unity and development across the state.
