Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has joined thousands of sympathizers in mourning the death of the Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Sani Alhassan.
In a condolence statement issued through his media office, Senator Karimi described the late monarch as “a beacon of peace, a unifying force, and a custodian of cultural heritage whose leadership brought stability and progress to Kakanda land.”
He said the late Agankyu, throughout his reign, demonstrated rare wisdom, fairness, and a deep sense of responsibility that endeared him to his people and earned him respect across traditional institutions in Kogi State and beyond.
Senator Karimi recalled the monarch’s pivotal role in strengthening communal harmony, noting that his throne was a rallying point for dialogue, reconciliation, and development initiatives that benefitted both Kakanda land and neighboring communities.
He further commended the late royal father’s passion for youth empowerment, education, and cultural preservation, stressing that many young people across the kingdom benefited from his guidance, encouragement, and fatherly support.
According to the senator, the vacuum created by the monarch’s demise would be difficult to fill, especially at a time when traditional rulers play significant roles in complementing government efforts in peacebuilding and grassroots governance.
Senator Karimi extended heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Kakanda Traditional Council, the people of Kakanda Kingdom, and the Lokoja Local Government leadership, urging them to remain united during this painful period.
He encouraged the community to draw strength from the impactful life the late Agankyu lived and to continue upholding the values of peace, honesty, and mutual respect that defined his reign.
The senator prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy upon the departed monarch and asked God to grant the bereaved family and the entire Kakanda community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
