The newly affirmed Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, has officially assumed duties at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja, following a Federal High Court judgment delivered on November 10, 2025.
Speaking during his formal resumption on Tuesday, Hon. Gambo said the court affirmed him as the duly elected PDP State Chairman and ordered that he be sworn in within 14 days—an order he said was immediately carried out in accordance with the constitution of the party and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“On the 10th of November, the Federal High Court in Lokoja affirmed me as the newly elected PDP Chairman and ordered that I be sworn in within 14 days. Instantly, we left the court and completed the oath of office as required by law. Since the 10th of November, I have become the PDP State Chairman,” he stated.
He explained that certified true copies of the judgment had since been submitted to party leaders and governors, completing all administrative processes which paved the way for Tuesday’s official resumption.
Hon. Gambo described the court victory as a triumph for justice, fairness and democracy, adding that the ruling proved that the judicial system can deliver justice to anyone regardless of influence or status.
“The judiciary has proved that there is hope in Nigeria. Justice is all we asked for, and justice has been given. A poor man without a godfather can still get justice,” he said.
He criticized his opponent in the leadership contest, maintaining that the contender was not qualified to participate in the election due to a subsisting court order at the time.
He urged any aggrieved party member to seek redress through the Court of Appeal.
“For today, I am the chairman of this party. If anyone is not satisfied, the option is the Court of Appeal. The law of the land must be followed,” he said.
The chairman pledged to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders, rebuild internal unity and reposition the party for electoral victory.
“My mission is to reunite this party. We will bring back our members who have moved to other parties. Together we stand, divided we fall. Nigerians today are yearning for the PDP—the only true alternative,” he said.
He assured party members that his tenure will focus on unity, restructuring and strengthening party organs across the state.
The event concluded with Hon. Gambo proceeding from the secretariat hall to his main office to address another session of media briefing.
