The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was agog on Saturday as dignitaries, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, politicians, and well-wishers thronged the Sanusi Dantata Memorial Mosque for the grand wedding fatiha of Rabi’atu Rajab Naibi to Abdulqadir Abdullahi, and Zakari Rajab Naibi to Sadiya Bello.
The marriage rites were officiated by Sheikh Salahudeen Inyas, who presided over the Islamic legal processes and offered prayers for the success of the unions.
The marriages were consummated after the agreed dowry (sadaki/daurry) payments: Rabi’atu received N200,000 from Abdulqadir Abdullahi, while Zakari paid N250,000 for Sadiya Bello, in accordance with Islamic tradition.
In his sermon, Sheikh Salahudeen Inyas emphasized the sanctity of marriage in Islam and urged the couples to uphold patience, mutual respect, tolerance, understanding, and effective communication.
He also cautioned them against allowing third-party interference in their marital affairs.
The Gabi Sayadi of Lokoja, Hon. Sulaiman Baba-Ali, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, led a high-powered delegation from Lokoja to grace the ceremony.
In his remarks, he advised the couples to build their homes on unity, trust, sacrifice, and prayer, noting that successful marriages require discipline and commitment.
Father of the bride and groom, Dr. Rajab Naibi, the Dan Maje of Lokoja and Wazirin Hasken Nupe, expressed happiness over the successful marriage ceremony and offered deep appreciation to His Royal Majesty, Estu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, for their immense support and contributions to the event’s success.
He advised the couples to uphold love, patience, and tolerance, and to prioritize open communication in sustaining a peaceful and harmonious home.
He also thanked all guests who travelled from far and near to grace the occasion and prayed for God’s blessings and journey mercies for everyone in attendance.
Dignitaries in attendance include Senator Tunde Ogbeha; Member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Danladi Sulaiman Aguye; seasoned banker and technocrat, Dr. Tijjani Aliyu; representatives of His Royal Majesty, Estu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi; as well as several Hakimis, Islamic scholars, politicians, business leaders and community representatives.
In an interview shortly after the wedding fatiha, Senator Tunde Ogbeha and Hon. Sulaiman Baba-Ali also prayed for the newly wedded couples and advised them to uphold mutual respect, patience, understanding, and constant dialogue as key pillars of a stable and enduring marriage.
After the wedding fatiha, a Nupe traditional women’s cleansing ceremony for Rabi’atu and Abdulqadir Abdullahi was held at Dr. Naibi’s residence in Area 11, Abuja, where family women and invited guests performed cultural rites and prayers for marital blessings, protection, and fruitfulness.
In separate interviews, the grooms, Abdulqadir Abdullahi and Zakari Rajab Naibi, expressed profound appreciation to all who attended the celebration and prayed for divine blessings.
Zakari also extended appreciation on behalf of his bride, Sadiya Bello, for the overwhelming support.
A colourful reception later followed the religious rites, featuring cultural performances, music, gift presentations, and photography sessions.
The event concluded with special prayers for the couples’ long life, prosperity, and righteous offspring.
