The atmosphere at the Ganaja Eid Prayer Ground was filled with excitement and spiritual joy on Saturday as Madrasat Muhammadtha’a, Ganaja Branch, held its annual Bakara Recitation and Wolimatul Qur’an ceremony, graduating 25 students who successfully completed their Qur’anic studies.
The event, organized under the umbrella of the late Malam Gimba Aliyu Aguye, was a vibrant display of Islamic scholarship, unity, and community pride.
Parents, scholars, and well-wishers from across Lokoja gathered to celebrate the academic and spiritual milestone achieved by the students.
In his keynote address, the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Abdulfatai Abdulkarim, Chief Executive Officer of Karinat Group of Companies, congratulated the graduating students for their perseverance and devotion to the study of the Holy Qur’an.
He commended the management of the school for sustaining the legacy of the late Malam Gimba Aliyu Aguye, describing him as “a beacon of Islamic enlightenment whose impact will continue to be felt for generations.”
Alhaji Abdulfatai, while urging the graduands to let the teachings of the Qur’an guide their lives, said: “Today’s celebration is not just about graduation; it is about nurturing a generation that fears Allah and contributes positively to society. The Qur’an should remain your compass in everything you do.”
Delivering his remarks, the Principal of the Institution, Ustaz Gimba Abdulrahman, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the success of the program and the completion of another academic circle.
He appreciated the parents for their steadfast support and cooperation, describing them as pillars in the quest to raise morally upright and knowledgeable children.
Ustaz Gimba also commended the teachers for their tireless commitment, patience, and devotion to duty, noting that their sacrifices were instrumental in the academic and spiritual growth of the students.
He encouraged the graduating students to uphold the teachings of the Qur’an, live exemplary lives, and be good ambassadors of the Madrasat wherever they go.
In his words: “This graduation is a reflection of hard work, patience, and divine guidance. I urge all our graduates to continue reciting, memorizing, and living by the words of the Qur’an. That is the best way to honor the legacy of our late founder, Malam Gimba Aliyu Aguye.”
Also speaking, the Proprietor of the Madrasat, Mallam Muhammad Taha, appreciated the support of parents, community members, and well-wishers over the years, noting that the school has continued to uphold its mission of spreading Islamic knowledge and moral discipline.
He, however, appealed to the Kogi State Government and well-meaning individuals to extend assistance to the school to help improve its facilities and expand its capacity.
According to him, “Islamic education plays a vital role in shaping a peaceful and God-fearing society. We therefore appeal to the state government to support Qur’anic schools like ours with learning materials, infrastructure, and teacher training so that we can continue to nurture responsible citizens.”
Mallam Muhammad Taha further advised both the students and the graduating class to remain focused, disciplined, and steadfast in their pursuit of knowledge.
He warned them against indulging in social vices such as drug abuse, internet fraud (popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo), and other immoral acts, stressing that such behaviors are contrary to the teachings of Islam and the values of the Qur’an.
In his words: “To our graduating students, let this milestone be a stepping stone to greater achievements. And to those still learning, be patient and dedicated — the reward for knowledge is immeasurable. Always remember that true success lies in the fear of Allah, good character, and staying away from social vices such as drug addiction and internet fraud.”
Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, Abdullahi Usman, one of the top-performing graduands, expressed appreciation to the school authorities, teachers, and parents for their guidance and sacrifices.
He said the students were deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn under such a dedicated management and promised that they would remain worthy ambassadors of the Madrasat.
According to him: “We are proud products of Madrasat Muhammadth’a. We thank our teachers for their patience and the knowledge they shared with us. We promise to uphold the values of discipline, humility, and devotion that this school has instilled in us.”
In their goodwill messages, several Islamic scholars and community leaders praised the school’s consistency in promoting Qur’anic knowledge and moral training among youths.
They emphasized the importance of early Islamic education as a means to curb social vices and foster harmony in the community.
Highlights of the colourful ceremony included Qur’anic recitations by the students, presentation of certificates and awards to outstanding graduands and teachers, and special prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Malam Gimba Aliyu Aguye.
The event concluded with words of encouragement from parents and guests, who lauded the Madrasat for its commitment to Islamic excellence and prayed for its continued growth and success.
