The Kogi State Council of Ulamau has called on the Muslim Ummah to remain committed to the service of Allah (SWT) and engage in good works that would earn them paradise in the hereafter.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the end of the Council’s Annual State Expanded Executive Official Meeting held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at its Secretariat in Lokoja.
In their separate remarks, the State Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council charged Muslims to wake up to the call of Allah, live by His divine injunctions, and serve humanity faithfully, noting that no one knows the time of their departure from this world.
Reports of activities from the 21 local government areas of the Council were presented and submitted to the Secretariat for review.
The meeting also featured special prayers for notable individuals who passed away during the period under review.
Among them were His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Ibrahim, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland; His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammed Kabir Maikarfi III, the Maigari of Lokoja; the Baba Adini of Okunland, Alhaji Ahmed Ocha and Alhaji Ajidaun.
Prayers were equally offered for peace and security in Kogi State and Nigeria, especially in areas affected by crises, kidnapping, robbery, and banditry — notably Bassa and Yagba West local government areas.
The Council appreciated the Kogi State Government for its goodwill, as well as its moral and financial support to faith-based organizations, which it said had helped to promote peaceful coexistence among the state’s diverse communities.
It prayed that Almighty Allah continues to guide, direct, and strengthen the Governor and his administration to remain focused and achieve greater successes for the people of Kogi State.
The Council also appealed to the state government to take over the organization’s sponsorship of the Qur’an Recitation Competition at both the state and national levels, as practiced in other parts of the country, to encourage wider participation and the promotion of Islamic scholarship.
The communiqué concluded with the announcement that the next State Executive Meeting of the Council is tentatively scheduled for the second week of Rabiul Thanni 1448 A.H., equivalent to September 20, 2026.
