Lokoja Forum of Patriots Appreciates Guests, Sponsors for Successful Boat Regatta

The Lokoja Forum of Patriots (LFP) has expressed deep appreciation to all dignitaries, organizations, and residents who supported and attended the 6th edition of the Lokoja Boat Regatta held on Saturday at the Kabawa Waterfront in Lokoja, Kogi State.

In a statement jointly signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Idris Baba’Ango, and the Regatta Coordinator, Nnda Umar, the organizers described the event as a huge success that showcased the unity, culture, and hospitality of the people of Lokoja and its environs.

According to the statement, the annual regatta has grown to become one of Lokoja’s most prominent cultural festivals, attracting visitors from within and outside the state while promoting peace, tourism, and traditional values.

The Forum specially thanked the Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi, for his royal blessings, fatherly guidance, and unwavering support for initiatives that promote Lokoja’s cultural heritage.

LFP also extended appreciation to the Managing Director of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, for the Commission’s partnership and continued commitment to community development projects in the area.

Similarly, the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Chief (Dr.) Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was commended for his efforts in promoting safety on the waterways and supporting cultural and tourism-related activities in Lokoja.

The Forum further expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Occasion, Barrister Naseer Ahmed, for his leadership and encouragement; the Forum’s Patron, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, for his fatherly advice and guidance; Senator Sunday Karimi, for his goodwill and solidarity; and Sulaiman Baba Ali, the Gabi Sayadi of Lokoja, for his moral and financial contributions to the success of the event.

The statement also appreciated the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, for his support toward the success of the regatta, describing his participation as a demonstration of government’s recognition of Lokoja’s cultural and tourism potential.

Traditional rulers, title holders, and community leaders were equally appreciated for their presence and support, which, according to the Forum, reflected the spirit of togetherness that defines the people of Lokoja.

The Forum commended representatives of government agencies, the Lokoja Local Government Council, cultural groups, and youth organizations for their active participation, which added colour, excitement, and prestige to the regatta.

LFP also acknowledged the efforts of security agencies, medical personnel, and the media for their professionalism, which contributed to the peaceful and well-organized conduct of the event.

The statement noted that the Lokoja Boat Regatta has continued to attract national attention, serving as a platform to celebrate the city’s historical connection to the River Niger and its role as a melting pot of diverse cultures.

“The Lokoja Forum of Patriots remains committed to preserving our cultural heritage and fostering unity among our people. We sincerely thank all who contributed to the success of this year’s event and look forward to an even greater celebration in the next edition,” the statement concluded.
