The Kogi State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups encroaching on the land allocated for the party’s ongoing State Secretariat project, vowing to reclaim the property and ensure the completion of the long-abandoned structure.
Gambo gave the warning during a scheduled inspection visit to the project site on Tuesday, where he lamented the level of trespassing and neglect that has characterized the secretariat over the years.
He described the situation as disheartening, noting that it was unacceptable for a party that once dominated the political landscape of Kogi State to be without a functional state headquarters.
According to him, the PDP under his leadership is determined to reverse the trend and restore the party’s institutional strength.
He affirmed that the completion of the State Secretariat remains a top priority of his administration.
The chairman called on the Kogi State Government to direct relevant agencies to take decisive action against illegal occupants, stressing that the party would pursue all lawful means to reclaim every portion of its land.
“We are drawing the attention of the state government to these encroachments, and we will pursue anyone who has taken parts of our land in order to restore our rightful boundaries,” Gambo said.
He further announced plans to set up a technical committee that will thoroughly assess the situation on ground and make practical recommendations on how to address the encroachment and fast-track the completion of the project.
Gambo also appealed to key stakeholders within the party, including former governors, senators and members of the House of Representatives, to rally round the state chapter and support efforts to resolve the challenges confronting the secretariat project.
“I am appealing to our party leaders to come to our aid and help address these anomalies for the collective good of the PDP in Kogi State,” he added.
The PDP chairman assured party members that construction work would resume shortly, emphasizing that transparency and accountability would guide the process, marking a clear departure from past practices.
He expressed optimism about the future of the party, stating that the PDP is strategically repositioning itself to reclaim its prominence in Kogi politics, adding that the party’s renewed seriousness and resolve would be evident ahead of the 2027 general elections.
